Do I need to tell anyone that I am coming to see you?Professional supervision: I have an ethical duty under the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC) and the British Psychological Society (BPS) code of conduct to receive regular supervision from another qualified psychologist. We meet regularly to discuss elements of my work and do not identify clients by name. This process ensures that I continue to offer clients the best service. Risk: I have an ethical and legal obligation to protect clients and other members of the public from risk of harm. This means that in the unlikely event that a client discloses information that suggests that either they or another member of the public is at risk of harm, I must inform relevant third parties (eg. next of kin, GP, social services, police etc). I would always try to contact you first to discuss the need to do this.
